Principal's Message

Principals Message

Welcome to Namadgi Preschool to Year 10 School. As you read about our school, you will get a sense of our learning focus, whole school philosophy, core values, mission and strategic priorities.

The Mission of staff at Namadgi School is to be a powerful force for change in the lives of our children and young people. Our Namadgi school community values diversity and our staff nurture social, cultural and academic differences. The Namadgi School P-10 setting means that students can grow and learn with their cohort from Preschool entry to Year 10 Graduation.

Namadgi is an inclusive school with mainstream, small group and special needs classes supporting learning for the full range of our students. At Namadgi School, learning opportunities are student-centred, our facilities are modern and we have an improvement agenda with a strong focus on Academic Achievement, Engagement and Wellbeing. Our Strategic Plan (2018-2022) has a strong focus on providing a continuum of support where students can access enrichment and alternate learning programs,  social services and community programs that enrich wellbeing and prepare students towards further studies, work and career pathways.  Our graduate profile for students is heavily focussed around preparing students to be connected learners who are collaborative, creative and critical thinkers.

The Namadgi School values are; Learning, Caring, Respect and Positive Attitude. Our staff and community have helped shape these values and they are explicitly taught  and recognised through pastoral care classes, award systems and the work of our executive team. In addition, Namadgi School is a Positive Behaviours for Learning (PBL) school. Our  Positive Behaviour for Learning framework ensures students, staff, families and the school community are on the same page to create a safe and supportive learning environment for all students. Our agreed set of defined behaviours are safety, respect and learning and we acknowledge and reward students who follow our expectations. Students are regularly recognised for displaying PBL through a clearly defined reward system and our expectations are backed up by teaching procedures, visible signage, reminders and cues.

Namadgi School operates a preschool program following the Directorates 15 hour guidelines and engages students through the Early Years Learning Framework as a curriculum base.  Preschool students are encouraged to use play-based learning to develop social, emotional and academic skills in preparation for Kindergarten.  Once enrolled at Namadgi Preschool students have an automatic entitlement to continue learning into the Primary and High School years.  Our school environment consists of Preschool, Primary (to Year 5), a Middle School (Year 6) and a High School (7-10)

Namadgi School students are taught Australian Curriculum and have opportunities to engage in specialist elective classes, passion projects, excursions and camps that support learning.  These experiences include international excursions to Japan, sporting excursions with interschool teams, Geography, Performing Arts and Outdoor Education camps as well as  sailing, swimming lessons, reptile zoo visits and magic shows for younger students.

At Namadgi School student voice and agency is important to us. We foster student leadership opportunities through peer support programs, Student Representative Council (SRC), Passion Projects, Leadership classes, buddy programs, student representation on the School Board and our Student Co Principal each week.  Each student, as an individual, matters to us.  Our Pastoral Care team, Youth Workers, School Psychologists, Counsellors, Indigenous Education Officer, School Nurse, and Response To Intervention programs are aimed towards assisting students with wellbeing and academic concerns and directly support students and their families.  At Namadgi we understand what it means to be part of the community and strive to be a supportive hub within the Kambah suburb.

Namadgi school can accommodate any requests to meet to discuss enrolment options and through our executive team we can support requests for school visits.

I welcome you to our beautiful Namadgi P-10 School and look forward to meeting your family.
